Ganoderma butt rot is a lethal disease of the Queen Palm. The disease is caused by the fungus Ganoderma zonatum. There is no effective treatment for ganoderma butt rot, only prevention. The primary symptoms are wilting, slower growth and off-color crown.

The lower leaves turn yellow, droop and eventually die. If you see the conc near the base of the trunk, the tree is already dead and must be removed. Most likely the fungus enters the trunks through infected pruning gardening tools. The best method to prevent the disease is always sterilize all gardening tools after each tree.

The Queen palm is also sensitive to leaf skeletonize. If you notice the insects on the leaves, use approved insecticides and remove affected fronds from the tree.
